  • ADDER

    ADDER

Adder Technology, a specialist in connectivity solutions and high performance IP KVM, is showcasing its popular ADDERLink™ XDIP solution at the KitPlus Show 2021. New functionality, introduced last year, comprises expansion for the receiver to access 16 sources and the transmitter to broadcast to 256 receivers, the introduction of a RESTful API, and support for PoE in the US. These new features make Adder’s highly successful XDIP platform even more powerful and give customers greater flexibility and remote control when managing their KVM matrix.

Salvador Bettencourt-Avila, technical designer and programmer at video and projection specialists Mesmer UK, said, “The compact size and simplicity of the ADDERLink XDIP is what first attracted us to the solution. When we used it for the ground-breaking virtual reality and projection mapping in ‘Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds: The Immersive Experience’ tour, the XDIP's extension capability, reliability and real-time remote control functionality was critical. Now, with the expansion of network capability and the introduction of the API, we can build even larger networks and easily hand over to the operator or technician to run the system.”

Improved remote control, either via a RESTful API or HTTPS web browser, gives users even more choice and flexibility with how they control their XDIP solution. The XDIP is designed to work with all popular drivers so customers can choose the most appropriate software program for them, without loss of features.

Managing all end points through an API simplifies configuration and maintenance. This level of interoperability, combined with new multi-casting functionality, means the XDIP is the ideal solution to bridge the gap between KVM and video over IP. Customers can now take advantage of best-in-class KVM functionality while delivering video and AV content around a large-scale installation, all over an existing 1GbE network.

By making Power over Ethernet support available in the USA, XDIP customers in the market can benefit from quicker installation times and cost savings - delivered by mitigating the need for additional power sources. PoE support also improves reliability by leveraging the redundant power options delivered by PoE switches.

    Boxer

If you think the leap from analogue to digital and tape to file-based a decade or so ago was disruptive, you haven’t seen anything yet.

The advent of IP video and associated workflows, coupled with artificial intelligence (AI) and the already rapid content and data streams that will soon become hugely disruptive as a result of SMPTE 2110 collectively mean that – more than ever – you need an objective, independent guide to help you navigate those rapids to safe, and profitable, harbour.

Boxer Systems’ driving goal is to ensure that you are not crippled by antiquated technologies, systems, or working practices, the majority of which are costly to support and stay in business.

We have thrived for more than 25 years with the single-minded aim of enabling our customers to do more with less while their competitors do less that costs more.

Our success requires in-depth knowledge, hands-on experience, and practical creativity – all of which are hallmarks of the stability that we have established and successfully maintained in the midst of multiple technical and cultural disruptions through the decades.

We lead by introducing new products such as the emerging metadata industry standard: /i Technology and we remember our success is built on a simple idea - do what the filmmaker needs.  Our factory in Leicester, England has generations from the same family working side by side. That experience is un-beaten anywhere. We manufacture a full range of primes and zooms for 35mm, digital and Super 16mm photography. We know our customers, and they know us, as individuals. Our rental partners do their training next to the craftsman who built their lenses. There are no barriers. We meet our customers at our factory, at trade events worldwide, distributors and rental houses and of course on the set. We're intolerant when it comes to tolerances. We research continuously to drive innovation. Our lenses are dependable and practical in use on the set; our optics superb. The lenses are straightforward to maintain – which is why so many rental facilities carry our products. Our manufacturing and testers keep going until we get each lens within our very tight specification. We get it right, whatever it takes.  At the heart of what makes Cooke special is the "Cooke Look". The Cooke Look® is about the science of creating beautiful images for the motion picture industry.  As a result, for over a century, cinematographers have chosen Cooke lenses for a smooth roundness and dimensionality to the picture and for the velvety skin tones that flatter.  Curious?  Find out more, follow Cooke Optics on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin or Vimeo  Check out Cooke Optics TV, not about Cooke lenses, but all about our and your cinematography heroes www.cookeoptics.tv  Amazing creative production work from all over the world can be seen with production breakdowns at the curated motion gallery that is www.shotoncooke.com

    Cuescript

When choosing a prompting company what are the main factors in making your choice?

CueScript are a teleprompting company with a fresh way of thinking; modern and progressive whilst upholding old-school values. Home to the first complete IP-based prompting solution, we've been leading the way since day one.

With design for purpose, ingenuity and quality at the forefront, we have developed a range of exciting products. Understanding the needs of the customer and listening to the end user are sometimes forgotten. CueScript invite free thinking, we want to push boundaries and we have the drive and ability to promptly react to ideas or requests.

    IP is in our DNA

Broadcasters and system integrators looking at all-SMPTE IP installations no longer have to rely on SDI-SMPTE gateway converters, thus allowing our CSMv2 prompter displays a seamless interconnection with 10GigaBit fibre IP switches. This allows both the prompt and talent monitor to be fed from a single 10GB fibre cable, when the talent monitor is an existing CueScript HD-SDI display.

For customers that want a complete IP flexibility but do not have a 10GB IP-based video switch, the CSMv2 also includes CueScript’s innovative IP connectivity, now referred to as CueTALK, which provides seamless operation through standard CAT5/6 IT infrastructure.

We provide broadcasters and prompter users with a flexible solution that encompasses conventional connectivity (Composite or HD-SDI video), as well as full IP connectivity, all in the one system, as standard; thereby supporting you for today and tomorrow, future proofing your purchase.

  • DMG Lumiere by Rosco

    DMG Lumiere by Rosco

    Represented by LCA

Introducing MIX® from DMG Lumière and Rosco – an LED fixture that will change how filmmakers create coloured light on set.

Since the dawn of coloured cinema, set lighting professionals have put Rosco gels on tungsten or daylight balanced fixtures to create coloured light. That time-honoured process has recently shifted to colour-mixing LED technology, which has its own limitations. MIX, like any fixture engineered by DMG Lumière, was designed by technicians for technicians to address the issues that set lighting crew members have voiced about the colour-mixing LED fixtures they’re working with today. The features of the new MIX®LED technology provide superior colour, easy-to-use control interfaces and other innovative solutions that enable filmmakers to create the precise colour of light they want while speeding up their workflow.

    True Rosco Colour Inside

MIX®provides the best Rosco gel matches of any colour mixing LED source. Other LED lights claim to create Rosco gel matches and, in some cases, they’re successful at it. There are some colours, however, that those lights just can’t make – usually because they’re limited by the colour space of their LEDs.

MIX®features 6-LED colour mixing: Red + Lime + Green + Blue + Amber + White. This enables it to generate a wider gamut of colours than RGBW or RGBA fixtures. In addition, the Red and Lime emitters in the array are manufactured exclusively for MIX – meaning that it can create colours, tones, and hues that are only available from a MIX light.
Every Rosco gel colour in the MIX®library has been authenticated by Rosco’s colour experts as a match on tungsten and daylight sources – by eye, by meter, and by camera. In addition, the MIX®control software also allows you to set the base colour temperature of the light before adding colour. Roscolux #18 Flame, for example, looks completely different on a tungsten light than it does on a daylight source. By allowing filmmakers to select the colour temperature of the MIX®before selecting the colour, the fixture provides more accurate gel matches to other fixtures on set.

    Enhanced Lighting Workflow

The set lighting technicians at DMG Lumière know that speed is of the essence when you’re on set. This was the key factor when designing the user interface for MIX®. There are no menus! Simply choose between three different modes and then choose the colour temperature, colour or Rosco gel colour you desire from there.

Gel Mode:Not only are you able to select from a vast library of Rosco gel colours, you’re also able to modify the hue, saturation, and green/magenta shift of the gel colour as-needed.

White Mode:Access a wide range of tunable white light from daylight to tungsten, including precise green/magenta correction.

Colour Mode:Navigate through the MIX®colour space using the 360° hue wheel to choose a colour and then set the intensity of the light output. MIX also offers the ability to desaturate colours toward several different color temperatures of white light to create different tones of the base hue.

With nearly 360° of light radiation these tubes are perfect for using in the traditional 4Bank fixtures or bare, outside the fixture due to their glow similar to that of the traditional Kino Flo lamps. The lightweight tubes can be taped to a set wall, customized to form arrays in soft boxes or hung as “ladders” of light for illuminating stage backdrops. A narrow aluminium rail built into each LED lamp expands the mounting options for special lighting designs.

  • Magic Video Box

    Magic Video Box

Magic Video Box creates eye contact in films.

As Flexible Films, we have been making films since 2002 for NGOs, charities, businesses and NHS England. Five years ago, we designed the Magic Video Box because we needed to film subjects looking directly into the camera lens. There wasn’t anything on the market that fitted our budget and needs so we decided to make our own. We have since filmed hundreds of great interviews and presentations and launched the Magic Video Box in October 2019.

We have been supported by PEW Electricals, a client who was so impressed – they offered to help with manufacturing, distribution and marketing. The Magic Video Box has been used in Straight Talking, a SKY documentary shot in Namibia and featuring Ant Middleton and Liam Payne. It is also being used in Channel 5’s Police Code Zero: Officers Under Attack.

As well as creating compelling footage where the audience feel they are being directly addressed, the Magic Video Box also enhances the filming experience. The box is beautiful in design resembling a 1920s film box and sits in front of the camera. Depending on the angle of the box, the Talent sees a reflection of either a scrolling script or the interviewer’s face. They quickly relax and this allows for open and intimate dialogue that can last for as along as needed. There’s something quite special about talking to someone through the box.

Feedback has been very positive with people saying they have found the Magic Video Box ‘fun, simple and easy’ to be filmed by. The films as a result are engaging and impactful. We have found in particular with the work we do that the result really is magic.

RED continues to innovate with its recent debut of the newest members of the RED DRAGON family, the RED RAVEN, SCARLET-W and WEAPON cameras. These cameras combine compact and lightweight design with cutting edge performance, and the 6K WEAPON includes an option to upgrade to a RED DRAGON 8K VV sensor at a later date. About Vision Research

It all started in 1950 when a young, idealistic, engineer quit his job at Fairchild Camera to pursue a career in an industry that barely existed. He formed a brand new company named Photographic Analysis Company whose sales mark was "Research Through Photography."

High speed photography is an engineering tool, much as is an oscilloscope or a computer. It is a photographic technique that enables us to visualize and analyze motion. Especially motions that are too fast for the human eye or conventional cameras to perceive.

During the first forty two years of the company's existence high speed photographic images were generally "captured" on photographic film. The company excelled in teaching and applying high speed photography to numerous clients for a multitude of applications. The company also designed , manufactured and marketed products specific to the high speed photographic needs of its clients. The company's film based cameras were so widely accepted that they are national stock listed (NSN) by the US DoD.

In 1992 the company decided to form a separate entity that was to design and fabricate high speed electronic imagers that did not rely on photographic film for imaging. That "spin off" was later to be known as Vision Research® Inc. and their family of electronic imagers is currently marketed under the "Phantom®" trade mark.

Vision Research prides itself in the high resolution of its images, the power of its software, the reliability of its products and its high level of attentiveness and dedication to its customers. The company's innovative approach to high speed electronic "digital" imaging was recognized by the US Patent Office and was granted US Patent #5,625,412.

The future holds more technology innovation and unique products from Vision Research. The company's development goals include electronic imaging products with higher resolution and faster frame rates and "smarter" cameras with more powerful and robust software.

While hardware and software products are important, the company realizes that its key to future success is the same now as it was in 1950 and that is listening to and serving its customers.

  • Pebble

    Pebble

IP connectivity made simple Every broadcast engineer and content producer needs to connect equipment. Signals need to be routed and switched around your setting, whether that is a production facility, a playout centre, a regional broadcast station, or an OB truck. In the world of SDI there are lots of options to help you do this. But for IP environments connection and device management becomes a whole lot more complex, and the cost of getting it wrong is potentially very high.

Choosing a control system is probably the most important decision you can make when you’re designing an IP facility or test installation.

It dictates what devices you can work with, and the type of workflows that will sit on top of that control system. So it’s vital that you can trust your vendor to deliver the performance, security and reliability you need with such a key component of your infrastructure. Here at Pebble we have 21 years’ experience in automation, from our beginnings controlling VTRs, cart machines and routers to our current suite of products which control networked devices. This experience, together with our highly skilled dedicated R&D team who have been immersed in broadcast control development within the industry for many years, combine to bring you Pebble’s new IP connection management solution.

Pebble Control is a self-contained, scalable, IP-native, connection management solution which is easy to configure, deploy and operate using web-based UIs. Designed to deliver immediate benefits to even the smallest IP facility, it leverages open standards to interface with NMOS-enabled devices from multiple vendors, and is easily reconfigurable for when your interconnections change, or when you add or remove devices. Excellent, secure device management is a key building block for your IP environment, and Pebble Control can get you there without the consultation and expense that a bespoke enterprise solution entails.
